The original store may have closed in 1977, but lord harris has retained strong links with the peckham area.

The academy also has a focus on vocational education: there is a mechanics garage, commercial kitchen and hair salon where pupils can qualify for nvq qualifications.
As lord harris tours the school he stops to talk to the pupils and beams when informed by an 11yearold that she is going to be a doctor.
But it has not all been plain sailing.
In 1988 financier jimmy gulliver launched a highly leveraged bid for harris queensway.
Lord harris lost control of the retail conglomerate he had built from scratch.
While lord harris went on to build carpetright, harris queensway collapsed within three years as the group struggled to service the debt used to buy the business.
Two decades later, it still appears to haunt him.
The business has got to be able to afford it.
Carpetright first announced in june that lord harris was considering an offer, since when the credit markets have collapsed.
So has the deal been hit by the crisis in the credit market?
Lord harris insists that he is relaxed about whether the deal proceeds or not.
That includes pushing ahead with aggressive european expansion that so far has seen the group open stores in belgium, poland and the netherlands.
Nor, he insists, will succession planning be affected by whether or not the buyout proceeds.
He knows every detail about his business: all of the stores, carpet ranges and sales figures intimately.
